Last week I started noticing that my cell phone was acting up in strange ways but I ignored them mostly because I was busy. But one morning when I was on a 20 minute call I felt the phone becoming almost hot, and that had me calling in for support. The service I use couldn’t pinpoint the problem over the phone but they did agree that I needed a replacement. Only problem, it couldn’t get to me for a few days because of Covid. Ohhhh K, I guess we’re still climbing on that wagon after a full year. Anyway, I’ve been using my cell sparingly because I’ve been worried it might explode; said with sarcasm, and I came to a conclusion that I never thought I would… a forced break from technology can be a very good thing and I believe I benefitted greatly. For example, when I went out for a run I didn’t take my phone with me. I also didn’t check out any of my social media sites or look at any of the news channels I follow. I turned on the TV for the local news and also checked in for the political news to keep up with things but other than that I was free from this appendage that I have grown so used to. And the funny thing was, I was almost panicked when I found out how long a replacement would take to get to me, but after the first day I was settling in and I actually felt less stressed. Today is day 4 and I have until tomorrow to be cell phone equipped again and I feel great. If I had known the benefits of walking away from this piece of technology for a short time I would have done this long ago!
Have a great day! Jana
