When I first started using essential oils, I was scared. I was told, over and over, that you only needed a small amount of the oil when you were using it topically or using them in cooking. Also, if you are diffusing any of doTERRA’s oils you will only need half of the recommended drops because our oils are the only essential oils that really are 100% pure with no additives or synthetics that can dilute the oils down. Now, I know a lot of you are going to write me and say that the oils you buy at the store are 100% pure because the label says that, but I know that that isn’t true. I can share this info with you if you’d like, just get a hold of me personally. ~ So, what is a newbie to doTERRA supposed to do when trying to decide the right amount of oil to use on their child, pet, or themselves? I always share that a little goes a long way… if I’m diffusing an oil like Spikenard, I only put one or two drops in the diffuser because this oils scent is very potent. But if I’m diffusing Lavender oil I will put in about five drops because that is the perfect scent strength for my liking. And if I’m adding in Rosemary oil into my shampoo once or twice a week for added scalp conditioning I only use one drop in my dollop of shampoo. ~ When you start using our oils you will quickly learn which ways work best for you and your family but always remember that less is more, especially with the stronger oils, like Oregano, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, Spearmint, or Wintergreen. And if you’re cooking with them, even less of one drop may be all that you need. Practice makes perfect so get out there and experiment!
Have a great day! Jana
