There have been so many times in the past few weeks that I’ve gotten emails or texts about how to apply certain essential oils, how much to use, can they be taken internally, how many times a day can I use them, etc. The answers are different for everyone and each oil, but the basics of this are simple. If you have sensitive skin, use a carrier oil to dilute the essential oil before applying it to the skin. doTERRA has a Fractionated Coconut oil that is wonderful, but you can also use extra virgin olive oil, or organic coconut oil. Just add 1 drop carrier oil to one drop essential oil and so on before you apply it. If you have normal skin you should be able to apply the oils right on the area with no dilution. You can safely test the oils by rubbing a small amount on your skin before using a full amount. ( some oils are considered HOT oils, like Cinnamon and Oregano, so those should always be diluted ) ~ It is also safe to take a lot of doTERRA’s oils internally and the best way to do that is to put 1 to 2 drops of a specific oil into a gel capsule and swallowing. Our oils are concentrated so a little goes a long way. You can also just put a drop of oil right on your tongue if the taste doesn’t bother you… and if it does, don’t worry, the oils are quickly absorbed into the body so the taste will last no longer than a minute. ~ As for how often you can apply them, that is really up to you and how you feel. A friend of mine burned her hand while cooking and she immediately applied Lavender oil right on the area. She repeated this about every 20 minutes and she never had the bubbling of the skin that usually comes with a burn. The oil soothed and calmed the situation and it did it in the most natural way possible. ~ If you’d like more info on this subject, contact me any time!
Have a great day! Jana
