One of my friends directed me to a recipe in our Modern Essentials book that was focused on making your own lipstick, or in this case, a lip gloss. I have this book yet I had never read this part of the book before. Because so many of you like to use lip sticks and glosses, I figured this might interest some of you. Plus, it’s another great way to use doTERRA oils in a fun way. ~ To make a natural lip gloss/stain, get 3 Blackberries, 3 Raspberries, 1 Strawberry, ( remove stem ) 1/2 teaspoon Sweet Almond oil, and 1 drop of doTERRA’s Peppermint oil. Heat the berries in the microwave or a double boiler until soft. Mash the berries with a fork until well blended, and allow to cool slightly, then mix in the sweet almond oil and the Peppermint essential oil. Strain the mixture through a coffee filter or cheesecloth to remove seeds and pulp, then place the mixture in a small salve or lip gloss jar. ( you can find these online or at stores like The Container Store, or a drug store.) Store in the refrigerator and when you are ready to use it, dip your finger in the mixture and apply to your lips. You will have a beautiful light red or deep pink glow that will keep your lips tingly soft for hours. This makes a great gift idea and would be fun to do with a group during a Make-n-Take party. ~ * After applying this gloss to your lips make sure you wash your finger right away so it doesn’t hold the stain of the gloss. ~ For more DIY ideas about how to use our oils for fun things, type in DIY in the Search window at the top of this page and everything I’ve written about do-it-yourself projects will pop up!
