Yesterday I was sitting in traffic for over 3 hours because the freeway was closed near my house because of a bad fire. It was 0% contained and they were evacuating homes in the East County where I live. There were over 250 firefighters on the ground and an air attack by helicopters and planes that was unbelievable. Thankfully, these fine men and women took care of the situation and saved every home in harms way. Sitting in traffic all that time was not fun, but I am so thankful for the training and ability these firefighters show up with in times of need. Amazing stuff and everyone needs to be respectful of the job they do. ~ This situation brought me back to a few posts I’ve written over the years about respiratory support when you are tested to the limit. When firefighters are out doing their job they are breathing in air that is thick with ash and they are breathing in this contaminated air with every breath. They often have to wrap their faces with scarves that are doused in water just to help them stay cool and breathe easier. The toll this takes on their respiratory system is extreme and the effects of it can last for days, or even weeks, sometimes. ~ Introducing doTERRA’s Breathe respiratory blend. This essential oil blend can help to soothe and open up your airways even during or after an experience with compromised air quality. You can apply a few drops of this oil blend in a diffuser and sleep with it running so every breath you take your airways are receiving a natural calming reaction to the negative experience of the day. And if you are a firefighter, or know one, putting a drop or 2 on the scarf that fits over the face while you’re fighting fires can be a real positive in so many ways.
