The other day I was on the phone with a friend as she was putting together her order for doTERRA and we were going through all the oils that she was unfamiliar with. Melissa essential oil caught her eye because of the cost; it’s $180.00 retail, and $135.00 wholesale. And that’s for a 5ml bottle which means it only holds 85 drops of oil. Wow. Why would anyone ever need this oil she asked me…. I sat there on the other end of the phone thinking to myself, ‘I do, I need this oil.’ As an essential oil lover I get a special feeling by having all of these oils in my possession. It is comforting to me to know that I have them available if I ever need them, for myself, or for friends. So, what does one do with Melissa oil? Here are just some of the uses and a little bit of history behind this oil. ~ Back in 1611 the Carmelite Monks in Paris, France used the Melissa herb to brew their special Carmelite water. This was known to help people with immune system support, emotional balance, cooling body temperatures, digestion support, heart health, tension, skin health, and female specific concerns. Nowadays, people will add one drop of our Melissa oil into a liter bottle of filtered water to benefit from the helpful properties that this oil offers. Because the oil is so much more concentrated than the herb, you only need a little bit to benefit from the oil. You can also dab a little bit of the oil off the cap of the bottle and rub it on the roof of your mouth for emotional support and other benefits. People say that by doing this it just ‘rights their ship’, and makes them feel good. Others use this oil for those common blemishes that occur occasionally on your mouth and lip area. For me, I just enjoy inhaling the scent of this oil right out of the bottle, it makes me happy every time!
Have a great day! Jana
