I had never used Cistus essential oil until I ordered doTERRA’s new Ancient Oils Collection at the beginning of the month. The kit came with six oils, Myrrh and Frankincense which are already in doTERRA’s permanent oil collection, and four new ones, Hyssop, Common Myrtle, Galbanum and Cistus. These oils were picked because all of them are considered to be oils used frequently in ancient times. We may never have heard of many of them but when you do some research on them you will find out a lot about them. ~ Cistus oil has a peppery, earthy, and slightly spicy aroma that will definitely grow on you as you use it. I wasn’t a huge fan but after I started to blend it with some other oils I changed my feelings toward it. Cistus comes from the Rock Rose family and the oil is distilled from the sticky leaves and stalks from the plant. When you use this oil for meditation and prayer benefits you can diffuse it in a room either by itself or mixed with other oils with similar earthy components. This oil is very calming and it can support emotional balance, nerves, moods, and thoughts. It is also a beneficial oil to use on the skin for many targets, and it blends well with Frankincense, Lavender, and Helichrysum oils to support the most common and annoying targets. You can dilute it with our Fractionated Coconut oil if you have sensitivity issues but it is safe to use right out of the bottle if desired. You can also support your respiratory system when you use this oil topically on the wrists, rubbing some of the oil over the chest area, and by inhaling the oil right from the bottle. After doing this your airways will breathe a sigh of relief for the natural benefits it brings almost immediately.
Have a great day! Jana
