This is a great topic and I rarely talk about it on here. I guess that’s because most people who purchase a diffuser always ask straight away how to clean them. Well, after all of the years that I’ve been using essential oil diffusers, there have been some really great ways to clean out a diffuser, besides the oldest known one of just wiping it out with a cloth after each use. A lot of people don’t have time to keep up with the wiping out of their diffuser after each use so some sediment will build up. This comes from the sediment of the oils themselves, plus whatever minerals and substances are in the water used itself. So, what are the best ways to clean out this amazing tool? First, try using some white vinegar; maybe a teaspoon, in a water filled diffuser and scrub it out with a swab. Rinse it out, fill it up with water and run the diffuser for about 15 minutes. ~ Another popular way is to use some rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad and gently rub out the buildup of oils and sediment. You can also use doTERRA’s Lemon essential oil as well because that is one of our most well known oils to use in cleaning. ~ If you are interested in clearing the diffuser out from previous scents left behind, rinse the diffuser with white vinegar and water for about ten minutes, then clean out completely. ~ Some people like to use hydrogen peroxide and this is perfectly safe and won’t do harm to the diffuser as long as it’s used only occasionally. Simply fill your diffuser with water, add 5 to 10 drops of hydrogen peroxide along with 4 to 5 drops of your favorite essential oil, and run the diffuser for a full run time. ~ These options will totally clean your diffuser and allow it to last for many years.
Have a great day! Jana
