This statement is going to anger certain people but I wanted to bring it up today because a few people I know had an issue about diets and how well they really work. I’m a big believer in the mind/body connection and I also believe that what we think about, we bring about. An example of this is when people spend a lot of time focusing on something, like increasing their income, and they visualize their bank account growing, then they will be rewarded with that outcome. If they visualize the lack of money in their bank account, then they will be rewarded with a lack of money. I know for most, this concept isn’t one that you might be familiar with, but let me just share one more thing. A couple of years ago I hooked back up with an old friend who I hadn’t seen in awhile and she had gained about 20 pounds. She told me she had been on a diet for a year and she wasn’t able to shed the extra weight. No matter what she did, the weight just stayed attached to her. I suggested that she might just want to focus on loving her body the way that it was and when she exercised to think about how it was helping her cardiovascular system, her mental health, and feeding her body with oxygen. By putting in positive thoughts the whole experience becomes a rewarding one.
