Sometimes a great idea needs to be shared and I’ve got a good one today. How many of you have ever made a homemade candle before? I believe I did as a kid but I haven’t as an adult so when I got the email about how a reader makes her own candles and scents them with our essential oils, I got excited. Here’s the recipe she shared with me: Homemade Aromatherapy Candles You’ll need to get some organic beeswax, essential oils of your choosing, cotton wicks, a clean can to melt the wax, a wooden spoon or stir stick, and a pot. Create a double boiler by placing water into the pot and bring it to a boil. Place the wax into the can and place the can into the water until the wax melts. While you’re waiting on the wax, cut the wicks to fit to the bottom of your choice of containers for the candles. Mason jars, glass jars, tin containers, whatever suits your fancy. Grab a couple of pencils and tape the wicks to the pencils, lying them on top of the container for the candle. This allows the wicks to be positioned properly until the candles cool. When the wax is melted, take the can out of the water and stir in your choice of the essential oils. Stir in enough oil so you can smell it while you’re stirring up the wax. Then pour the wax into the containers and set aside to cool. And that’s all there is to it! Homemade candles made easy. ~ The essential oil company I work with has some popular blends that work nicely for candles. Try using our Grounding blend, the Calming blend, or the Focus blend. You can also try using Lavender and Basil mixed for a heady scent; Wild Orange or Peppermint for bad-mood-relief; Bergamot or Clary Sage for anxious feelings; and Rosemary or White Fir for sadness or grieving. There are a ton of choices for you to choose from so check out our entire line of essential oils by sending me an email and I’ll send you a link to my catalog so you can browse around. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to include this information on this blog any longer but I’m just a text, call or email away!
Have a great day! Jana
