One of the most common subjects I’m asked about is if doTERRA’s essential oils are safe to use for their pets. I’ve written a lot on this topic and you can read those past blogs by simply typing in PETS in the Search window on this page. Everything I’ve written about them will pop up on your screen. ~ One of my readers sent me an interesting way she uses some of our oils for her dogs ear issues. She has a 35 pound mixed breed dog who gets ear irritations almost constantly. After costly vet visits and countless creams and gels to use in the dogs inner ear, not much was helping this situation. My reader has been an essential oil user for years and had always thought that most oils shouldn’t be used on pets. She thought they would be too strong for them and could cause more problems. After she did some research though she made a mixture of equal parts Geranium oil, Frankincense, and our Fractionated Coconut oil and massaged it into the skin all around the outside of both the dogs ears. She then rubbed just a little inside the ear, but not going down into the ear canal. This has been very helpful and the problem has been cleared up without harming her dog in any way. She is thrilled that the oils have helped her out and her pup is also in a better mood! ~ Always test out the oils on skin in a non-sensitive area if possible. This goes for children and adults as well. And if you are new to using essential oils, experiment with them before jumping in with both feet. It’s better to be cautious because you just never know how your body and skin are going to react to something new.
Have a great day! Jana
