Over the years I’ve written a lot of blogs that talk about how you can safely use some of doTERRA’s essential oils on your pets. I always get responses back from people who want to share their own stories regarding this topic, or they have questions about their own pet’s issues. One of the recent classes I had at my house had one of the women who attended asking me about the diffuser and if that was safe since I had a small breed dog who is aging. He’s actually almost 14 so this was a very good question. The answer is, yes, some of the oils are safe for aging pets, even cats. I have personally never had an issue when I’ve diffused our oils, but I also usually only diffuse the fir oils, floral oils, and On Guard. I do use a lot of them in blends that I mix up and I’ve never had one of my pets have a problem with them. But every pet is different so you want to make sure you keep a watchful eye on your pets at first. ~ I’ve also used Melaleuca and our DigestZen blend on my little guy, but I’ve never used these oils on my cat. I was always told that Melaleuca oil is too strong for most cats so I’ve held off using it on her. In stressful situations, like when we moved from our home to another one, both of my pets were really undone by the move. I diffused Lavender oil in my bedroom, where they were both cowering under the bed, and I also put our Balance blend on a T-shirt that I pushed under the bed with them. Both of these oils are well known for their ability to calm and soothe an anxious animal. ~ For more info on pets and our oils, go up to the Search window at the top of this page and type in PETS, or ANIMALS, and everything I’ve written about it will come up!
Have a great day! Jana
