Several years ago I wrote about energy drinks and how they probably weren’t the best thing for us. The health benefits are pretty much non-existent and the negative side effects are well documented. With over a hundred side effects attached to these type of drinks one might think twice before ingesting them. Unfortunately, that’s not the case and the lure of these mostly canned beverages is becoming more and more popular, in kids and adults alike. One of the things that has always bothered me has been seeing children, sometimes of a young age, drinking these drinks and probably not even understanding the side effects that could come from them. Some of these include dehydration, restlessness, a boost in heart rate, stomach discomfort, anxiety and stress, BP acceleration, and so much more. Non of this is good and I have always wondered the appeal of pumping so much caffeine and other stimulants into your system. People say they enjoy the ‘wired’ feeling they get, or the ‘awakeness’ they supply but I just don’t get it personally. I’ve had an overload of caffeine in my own system before and I wanted to go to the hospital I was so uncomfortable.
