I have started hiking again in a local park and the trails are hilly, rocky and uneven. I’ve been wearing a pair of older cross trainers because I am too cheap to go buy new ones. Didn’t someone tell us that if we didn’t take good care of our feet the rest of our bodies would fall apart? I distinctly remember hearing that somewhere…. Anyway, this morning I woke up, swung out of bed, and as soon as my feet touched the floor, I groaned just a little bit. The balls of my feet are pretty raw from the wear and tear, and not having really any cushion in those old shoes is taking its toll. I guess I need to break down and buy some new shoes or I am going to have bigger problems. The only light was that I knew I could find relief fast by using my essential oil stash. I use several oils that are cooling oils and they can reduce the discomfort and swelling in a very short period of time. My favorite oil to use for this is our Peppermint oil because it has a high level of aldehydes and esters which produce a cooling effect when rubbed topically on the skin. You can feel almost instant relief after applying the oil all over the bottom of the feet and massaging it in. Some of the other oils that work in the same way are: Eucalyptus, Melaleuca, Lavender, Roman Chamomile, and most of the citrus oils. – Another thing that helps get your stressed feet feeling normal again is a good old-fashioned foot massage. Whether you do it yourself or are lucky enough to have someone else do it, I recommend taking the time to pay a little extra attention to your feet. You can use the above mentioned oils or you can try the Basil oil, our Soothing blend, our Calming blend and Cypress oil. All of these are great choices and should have your feet back to normal in no time. One word of advice though…don’t do what I did, go out and purchase some decent shoes. Your feet will thank you!
Have a great day! Jana
