doTERRA has two Sandalwood oils; one comes from India, and the other one comes from Hawaii. Many people have asked me over the years what the differences were and I’ve always been told that they are so close in every area that the benefits are basically the same. The scents are a little different so some people make their choice because of this reason, but I find both of the scents of these oils so similar that I can’t really tell much difference. People do say that the Hawaiian version has a little sweeter scent, while the one from India is a bit more musky. Anyway, the uses are many and I’ll go over some of them right now. ~ Sandalwood essential oil has been used for hundreds of years in meditation practices, it is known to support the cardiovascular system, it can be useful for all kinds of skin targets, it is beneficial for emotional balance, it can help soothe a cough or overworked vocal cords, it has been known to be helpful for female specific issues, and some say it can get rid of hiccups when you rub some of the oil on your throat and put a drop or two right on the back of the tongue. ~ Because the Sandalwood oil is so concentrated with the Sesquiterpene constituents, a lot of people rub this oil on topically over the back of the neck and up higher by the brain stem area. This particular constituent has the ability to cross through the blood-brain barrier and some research shows that this can be very supportive for the brain and mind. ( for more info on this go to the Search window on this page and type in SESQUITERPENES and a blog I wrote about four years ago will pop up. It will give you more details on this constituent! ) And as always, if you have any questions for me, contact me and I’ll get right back to you.
Have a great day! Jana
