Bergamot essential oil was one of the first citrus oils that I remember using when I first learned about essential oils. Bergamot, pronounced ‘berg-ahh-moe’, is a fruit similar to a grapefruit and doTERRA harvests it in Italy. The fruit itself is bitter-tasting but the essential oil is sweet making it very popular for people who like to add it into their drinking water or teas. This is one of the oils that I mix in with my nightly tonic water and lime drinks. I use several different citrus oil mixtures that include Tangerine, Lime, Lemon, Grapefruit, Green Mandarin, Kumquat, Wild Orange, etc. It never gets boring when you have all of these options to work with. ~ Bergamot oil is also known for it’s soothing abilities for the skin. By adding it into your morning or nightly moisturizing routine, your skin will thank you for the added natural boost. You can also use it as an astringent to clear away dirt and makeup in a gentle way. ~ Bergamot oil is also known for it’s calming abilities when you diffuse it in a room you are working in, or as you settle in for the night. This oil can help reduce anxiousness and balance out emotions in kids and adults alike. And the scent of this oil is pleasing to everyone so all ‘beings’ in your home will fall in love with it. ~ One of the things that a lot of us oil users like to do is to refresh a room after odors might build up. If you cook a lot and your kitchen holds in the scents of the food, diffuse our oils in the room for about 20 minutes and you should smell complete results that quick. You can use any oil of your choice but I find that the citrus oils really cut through the lingering scents really quickly.
