Actually, I love two people with Mito… Mitochondrial Disease to be clear. If you don’t know what Mitochondrial Disease is, I’m here to fill you in today. ~ Mitochondrial Disease is when the mitochondria in the cells of the body fail to produce enough energy for the body to function properly. One in 5,000 people has a genetic Mito disease. When patients have a ‘crash’ and their systems fail, it compromises the body’s ability to sustain life. This disease has no cure and there are really no treatments at this time. That’s why we need to get this disease out in the open… awareness is key and we are working hard to get the word out so people can talk about it and share the information with others. ~ My friends, Christina and Brandon, have two little girls that have Mitochondrial disease. Kailyn and Charis are beautiful girls but they are constantly monitored so they can stay as healthy as possible. And they are not alone… there are many family’s who have children who are coping with this disease. It’s a daily struggle and is an emotional roller-coaster for everyone concerned. It’s always difficult when people suffer with any disease, but when illness touches children, it can seem even more unfair. ~ Please visit the website for more details about this disease, some of the family’s affected, and upcoming events that you can participate in in many ways. www.MitoResearchFund.org I will be volunteering at the annual Mito Walk and Roll at Liberty Station here in San Diego on May 16th, 2020. This info will be posted on the above website soon so if you’d like to attend or even donate to the cause for a cure, you can sign up at this website. You can even reach out to me personally if you’d like more info from me. ~ Please share this with people you know… we really need to build awareness!
Have a great day! Jana
