How many times have you, or someone you know, said the above words when talking about starting a new exercise program, or a diet, or a home project, or something similar? I used to say this to myself all the time about spring cleaning… I absolutely hate to clean so I’d always put it off, writing it on my calendar to focus on on ‘Monday’. I don’t do that anymore but for years it was the one thing that really held me back. Today I hear all kinds of people talking about things they are putting off and one of them really disturbed me. It has to do with retirement plans and who is preparing for that time in their lives. I realize that people who are younger, 20’s and 30’s, may think they have all the time in the world to figure that stuff out but I know better now. Because of the personal education I’ve been living the past few years, I know first hand how important it is to start planning for your future now. I know how expensive it is to live in an assisted living facility, go through hospice care, and medical treatments that aren’t covered fully by insurance. I know how expenses always creep up after cost of living rises, and I also know that if you only have a certain amount coming in from a pension, retirement, or you’re drawing off of savings, how fast that can deteriorate when you’re aging. After handling my parents affairs it became crystal clear to me how having even $100,000 in the bank wasn’t even close to being enough for anyone’s needs when they became older. The cost of ‘life’ is enormous and when you really examine this topic, it’s no wonder why so many people choose to put it off for another time. ~ For the next couple of days I’m going to focus on this topic because it’s important and I have things to share. I hope you’ll log back on tomorrow to hear more.
Enjoy your day! Jana
