About a month ago I had to say goodbye to my dog, Ajax. He had been with us for 12 years and he was definitely a huge part of our lives. His presence has been missed but I know he is in a better place, with no more discomfort or confusion. ~ Todays post is not going to highlight essential oils because I wanted to share my experience with a veterinary service that does house calls when the end is approaching for a pet. When Ajax was failing I knew I was not going to be able to put his 100lb body in my truck to get him the 15 miles to his vet. It would have been too stressful and I didn’t want to put him through it. I did my research online and came across a local veterinary group who made these visits and I made the call. Dr. Leann Sargeant, DVM, showed up at our door in less than 3 hours and I was so happy and relieved to meet her. She is very quiet and kind and put us all at ease as she entered the family room where Ajax rested in his favorite spot. We spent some time talking and my other 2 dogs and my cat all lay around us, perfectly calm. The process of sending your beloved pet over the rainbow is hard for every person who has ever had to do it. I have always been there to say goodbye when any of my other pets had ended their time here, but this experience was different. By having him pass in his home, with no stress and his brothers surrounding him, he just drifted off in complete peace. Even though it is so hard to let go, I was calmed by the process and so happy he was free. ~ Please look into this service and see if they are in your area. Lap of Love is located in many cities and states and you can check out their website here: www.LapOfLove.com ~ If you are in the San Diego area, call: (619) 642-2050 ~ I highly recommend this group and this service!
