When people start to use our essential oils for natural healthcare support, they often begin looking at all of the other ways that they might use the oils in their lives. And if they reach out to me, they are going to get a lot of information about a ton of things so I always advise having a notebook at the ready. The other day I was talking to a friend over the phone and after I answered her question about a skin care target, she started asking me about oils for cooking and then the conversation just went crazy after that. And one of the topics that came up was carpet care for people who were concerned about what chemicals were being applied to their rugs and carpets. A lot of people who have young children ask this question because many children spend a lot of time playing on the floor in family type rooms. So, here is a great way to naturally clean and add a beautiful fragrance to your carpets and home. ~ You’ll need some baking soda and a favorite doTERRA oil like Lavender, our Purify blend, Lime, Spearmint, Siberian Fir, Cinnamon, Wild Orange, Lemon, etc. Measure out a cup of the baking soda and add a few drops of a chosen oil right to it. Stir it up and then sprinkle in a light layer over the areas of your carpet that need some love. Let it sit on the carpet for 20 – 30 minutes and then vacuum up. The scent of the oil will last for days and the mixture will naturally clean the fibers of the carpet. ~ You can also get rid of stronger odors, including pet odors, by putting 2 drops of Lemon oil with 2 drops of Wild Orange oil in a tablespoon of water and rubbing this right into the area of concern. Let it dry on the fibers and this will easily absorb the odor and leave your space clean and fresh.
