Who agrees that our bodies are our temples and we only have one of them? All of you agree with that, I’m sure. And if you’ve just stumbled on this blog or have been a reader for awhile, you know I am passionate about sharing what I know, and what I am constantly learning, about our bodies. One of my recent interests is the affects of alcohol on our bodies over time. If you do any research on this topic yourself you will find hundreds of studies and research articles that go into detail about how negatively alcohol affects our body and brain. The brain is a strong organ but it can be compromised when it is treated with disrespect and when that happens it can cease to function properly. Sometimes these affects can be turned around, but sometimes the damage is just too much and repairs can’t happen. This subject matter became real important to me as I have recently witnessed a friend, my age, finding out that he had possibly irreversible side effects from his alcohol addiction. The reality of this kind of news should be sobering, yet some people can’t kick the habit because the craving is just too strong. This has become very scary to me and it has made me change my own, less severe, drinking habits. ~ In October of last year I suffered from a severe concussion. I am a red wine drinker on occasion but I stopped drinking altogether for a few months while my brain healed. Then in February of this year I suffered some personal losses and I started to drink about 2 glasses of wine a few nights a week. It may not sound like a lot but this amount can also reap havoc on our bodies. As I dove into understanding cravings and the addiction to habits, it became clear that alcohol really doesn’t have a space in my life anymore. My body and my brain are way to important to me and the wine is offering me nothing at this point. ~ Since I like to keep this blog short, please reach out to me if you have any questions or comments on this topic. I am always available and I can also talk to you about doTERRA’s essential oils that can support you though your health journey.
Have a great day! Jana
