About three months ago I bought a small Moringa tree from the nursery and brought it home to plant. I did all the right things by getting the best soil for this type of tree, digging a hole deep enough and wide enough for the roots to spread out once the tree was firmly planted, and watering it the proper amount each week. I even talked to it every morning when I went outside, just coaxing it along as most ‘live’ beings enjoy. ( don’t laugh.. there’s scientific proof this works 😉 ) After a few weeks I noticed some of the leaves were turning yellow and then the health of the tree went downhill quickly. I tried everything but the other day when I went out back to check on it, the stalk was leaning over and as I touched it it just fell right over. There were no roots and as I checked it out I came to the conclusion that gophers had been the reason for its demise. This just made me sad because if I had known about the gophers I could have used some oils for that. ~ I’ve talked about how Peppermint oil and our Purify blend can help to keep mice and rats away, but gophers are a whole different issue. When you plant something in the ground you can help to keep these critters away by mixing a small amount of Castor oil, plus a few drops of doTERRA’s Peppermint oil in the soil before you plant the tree. This is a natural deterrent for pests and won’t hurt them, it will just keep them away. Now that I know this I am armed for the new tree I will be planting tomorrow. ~ Please note that the only essential oils I use and talk about are doTERRA oils. I have no experience with other brands so I can’t personally recommend those.
Have a great day! Jana
