That’s a mouthful, but what a great recipe I have to share with you today. Once in awhile I like to share recipes that you can use some of our essential oils in and today’s offering is a good one. And this DIY recipe can be made all year round, not just in the Springtime. ~ This natural Laundry Softener only requires two ingredients; white vinegar and doTERRA essential oils. The oils you need are: Lemon, Lime, and Grapefruit, but if you need to substitute any of those with any of our other citrus oils you can do that. An optional addition is to add in a few citrus peels but that’s up to you. ~ You’ll need: 16 oz. White Vinegar, 3 drops of Lemon essential oil, 3 drops Lime oil, and 3 drops Grapefruit oil. Place the citrus peels in a 16 oz. glass bottle with a top, (optional) fill the bottle 1/2 way with the vinegar, then add all of the essential oils and shake the bottle well. Fill the remainder of the bottle with more vinegar and let sit for one week before using. Add this softener in the fabric softener cup in your washing machine, or manually add it in during the rinse cycle. You will find that your clothes, linens, and towels all come out smelling fresh and clean, plus, when they are dry they will be more fluffy and soft. ~ White vinegar contains acetic acid which removes leftover detergent and mineral deposits. This can be really helpful for your clothes and laundry because sometimes the fabrics hold onto soaps and chemicals that are common in most detergents. Over time the accumulation of these things can take a toll on your laundry. The essential oils work to create an appealing aroma that is natural and safe for your whole household, including young children’s belongings. I love using our oils in everyday ways and I’m pretty sure you will too! Any questions? You know what to do…
Have a great day! Jana
