One of the most common things that happens to people who workout with a cap or head covering on is that the sweat stays on your head, usually not drying completely, until after you wash your hair. For some athletes, this might take hours to get to after their workout. I have a good friend who does yoga about three times a week in the early morning and afterwards she does errands. It usually takes her about four or five hours before she hits the shower so the sweat that sticks to her scalp under her head scarf is always still damp. This can clog pores in your head/scalp and cause things that may bring discomfort and itchy feelings in the area. Regular shampoo is great but you may want to try something that absorbs deeper into the pores to unlock more dirt and grime. doTERRA has several essential oils that can be beneficial for this when you add just one drop of them to your shampoo before you massage it into your hair. One of the most popular choices for this is our Rosemary oil which can clean the scalp naturally and gently, and also has the added benefit of supporting faster hair growth. ( I’ve shared this info before in past blog posts ) The other oil that works great for cleansing is our Tea Tree oil. This oil is well known for it’s ability to support the skin in almost every area and most essential oil users have this oil in their home collection. ~ A few of the other oils that people like to use for hair and scalp support are: Geranium, Copaiba, DDR Prime, Lemon, Thyme, and Arborvitae.
