For the past week I’ve been taking some time off to do a deep dive into something I’ve been tossing around for the past two years. I am a native Californian and I love my state, but because of the rising costs, the population, certain management concerns, etc, I’ve been actively looking to relocate. I had recently narrowed my choices down to four states so for the past few days I’ve been active in researching those locations. What I found, after joining a few online groups about leaving CA, was that there is not a ‘perfect’ place, not one place that delivers paradise, not even close. There are pros and cons for everything and the one huge thing that I realized was that so many people are running AWAY from something without really knowing what they are running toward. If you are running from the politics in your state, that can change during any election cycle. If you’re running toward lower costs, that will change as well. The weather, amenities, employment opportunities, cost of living, etc, will always be changing. For me, the deciding factor came after spending hours talking to residents in the areas I was interested in, looking on the states websites, and just doing my due diligence. And then I did the thing that sealed my decision… I got in my truck and drove to the beach. I walked on the sand and felt the surf on my legs. I smelled the fresh salt air and listened to the waves crashing on the sand. It was an immediate memory of the hours I spent there growing up. And the next day I went up to the local mountains and walked a few trails in an area where I went to 6th grade camp. Beautiful scents and sounds were everywhere and it was so relaxing that I knew I’d be coming back more often. We’ve also got deserts and farmlands in this state, and the best weather imaginable. After much reflection I’ve decided to stay in CA and join the people who want to support positive changes. Anything is possible and I feel grateful for the time I was allowed to make this personal decision for myself. I’m also grateful for the opportunity that doTERRA offers everyone, no matter where you live in the world.
Enjoy your day! Jana
