Yes, you read that right… it says the Lot of Sadness because I’m talking about an experience I had last week and felt like sharing. ~ Early last week my beautiful truck, which has been the best vehicle I’ve ever owned, was hit while parked on the side of the road by a woman I suspect was texting while speeding in a quiet, residential zone. Her small car hit my sturdy truck like a bomb, totaling them both. Luckily no one was hurt but the reality of distracted drivers came into my life full force. And that’s why my own cell phone is always in the back seat when I drive because it’s just not worth what might happen if you use it while driving. Anyway, the process of contacting insurance companies, rental car places, and looking for a replacement vehicle in a full work week was daunting but I was able to accomplish everything. The car I’m now the owner of is not a vehicle I would ever have thought I’d end up in but it suits me perfectly and I’m so grateful for that. But the worst part of this journey was going to the collision yard where my truck was being stored. I had to go retrieve my belongings from the truck and as I walked through the lot with the attendant I looked around taking in all of the demolished vehicles sitting there. It was so sad to me because you just knew that all of those cars had been through something horrible. I told the man I was walking with that it looked like the lot of sadness and he agreed. After 10 + years of working there it still made him sad to see it. ~ There is always so much to be grateful for and I count my blessings every day. And no matter what tragedy we endure, a blessing always shows up afterwards if you’re open to it.
Take good care, Jana
