Every day that I hike up Cowles, or walk around Lake Murray, I always see people who are showing the signs of too much sun exposure. So many of us think that because it’s cold out, the sun isn’t as strong and so we won’t get bitten by it. As most of us know, that’s simply not true. The past month has been unusually cold where I live and on the sunny days we just think that the sun couldn’t possibly be as strong or radiate the same rays as it does in the Summer time, but that’s not the case. I made a trek up Cowles the other day and I didn’t wear any of my natural sunscreen that I make with Helichrysum and Frankincense oils. I did wear a hat but by the time I got home I could feel that familiar warmth on my shoulders and chest. I immediately grabbed our Hand and Body Lotion and put one drop each of Peppermint and Lavender oils in a dollop of the cream and spread the mixture all over my exposed skin. The relief you feel after you do this is immediate and your skin will thank you for it. And most of the time you won’t see any redness remain and your skin will not get dry and flaky like most sun-bitten skin gets. ~ Some of the other doTERRA essential oils that can be helpful for the skin are the Immortelle blend which has six oils in it : Frankincense, Hawaiian Sandalwood, Lavender, Myrrh, Helichrysum, and Rose. All six of these oils can be supportive for the skin for so many targets that having it on hand has become popular with most of our oil users. The other oils that can help soothe the skin are: Geranium, Turmeric, Cedarwood, Petitgrain, Ylang Ylang, Copaiba, and Yarrow/Pom. If you just have a couple of these oils in your home collection your skin will thank you!
Have a great day! Jana
