Every once in awhile I slip in a comment on this blog about time management. As a single woman raising a teenager pretty much on my own, taking care of a home and 5 pets, and working overtime to build a business that I have fallen in love with, well, sometimes I find myself scattered and unable to focus for long enough periods of time. I know this is true for the majority of us because I talk to so many people, but it’s a topic I wanted to touch on here today. Let’s look at the more ‘normal’ work scenario… the 8 to 5 job. When you work for a company or a business you always have a schedule or tasks that the boss or owner expects of you. Back in the day when I was a waitress I was expected to do side work when the restaurant wasn’t busy. No one was allowed to just sit around and check our cell phones or chat with other employees. We were expected to keep busy, filling salt shakers, cleaning tables, prepping condiments, etc. Basically, there was always something to do and you were expected to fit it in during your shift or day. When you are working from home and you are the ‘boss’, you make a list of things you want to get done but if you can’t, you feel stressed and not as confident in yourself or your business. It’s a horrible feeling but one we can make better. I have taken notes and written about structure in past points but let me focus right now on what I see happening for those who stick to a plan. ~ Last year I hit a level in my company that came from hard work and the hard work of people in my team. It was a struggle that had me working 7 days a week. Once I hit that goal I decided that I had to slow it down a bit so I could spend some quality time with my son and normal life things. But I hit that goal and that had me realizing that I could do anything as long as I kept my eye on the prize. So now I work 6 days a week and I work from 8 am until noon, then 1pm to 5ish. ( most days ) Now I am looking at a new goal and once I get there I will be in a place of peace and security, so nothing is going to stand in my way. ~ I try to keep these blogs short so I’ll stop here, but if you want to talk to me personally, please reach out to me, I’m always available!
Have a great day! Jana
