We’re coming into the months when people here in the states are doing more and more outside activities because of the longer days and the great weather. Along with that can come overexposure to the sun and I have been known to over do it myself sometimes. The other day when I was hiking I didn’t bother to put sunscreen on because it was past 6pm when I headed out. I didn’t think the sun would get me but I was wrong, the sun added a nice pink hue to my shoulders and chest area. Fortunately I have some essential oils that I can use to help soothe the sting and help to reduce the redness. The favorite oil to use is Helichrysum, but at a dollar a drop it might not be everyone’s first choice. ~ Lavender and Geranium are great skin soothers, and Lavender is always wonderful for the skin. Peppermint oil will help cool down the skin and it can be applied straight or added into a carrier oil and spread across the affected areas. Our Immortelle blend is another great oil blend to use and it can be used all over the body, not just on the face. And Frankincense is well known for it’s ability to soothe and refresh the skin. ~ A friend of mine mixes Helichrysum and Frankincense together before she goes out in the sun. This has proven to be a natural sunscreen for her and she believes it has helped her skin maintain it’s healthy, almost plump appearance. I’ve got an outdoor event to attend this weekend so I’ll be trying this sunscreen out for myself. I’ll probably mix in a little of our Fractionated Coconut oil as well so I can cover more areas with the product. ~ As always, if you have any questions or comments, give me a call!
Have a great day! Jana
