For almost a year now people all over the world have been ‘advised’ to wear a mask, or facial covering, to support efforts to stop a global virus from affecting others. The idea is that if we aren’t breathing near others, and eliminating any internal droplets from escaping into the air, more people will be protected while they are out and about. I totally get this and I am all for people protecting themselves and feeling confident when they go out in public. We should each do what makes sense to us as individuals. I’m also a believer in common sense and realizing why God gave us the ability to receive unhindered air through our nasal passages. As a person who exercises often, I know that blocking my airways would be insane and my lungs would cease to fully do their required job. If you are wondering why the lungs are so important, here’s a short description. ~ A breathing problem ( mask, etc. ) can hinder airways getting the proper amount of oxygen to your lungs. Your lungs provide oxygen and keep every other organ functioning by removing carbon dioxide from your body. When you exhale, your body is eliminating toxins and unhealthy bacteria. When you wear a mask this ‘bad matter’ is trapped on the fabric and you’re inhaling it all back in, causing non-positive things. So, when you think about how important oxygen is for all of our functions, it makes sense to keep our airways free from obstruction as much as possible. ~ I know this is a touchy subject for many but we should all realize that each of us may have personal health reasons for being outdoors without wearing a face covering. The other day when I was running at the beach, far away from any other human, a woman yelled over at me and told me I needed to be wearing a mask. I gave her the peace sign and continued on my way, noticing that she had a mask and a plastic shield covering on. If what they say is true, she was doubly protected and me being 100 feet away shouldn’t concern her at all. But what do I know?
Enjoy your day! Jana
