Late yesterday afternoon I headed up my mountain with one of our new essential oils in hand. I wanted to see how it worked on the bug population that is always hovering around the back side of the trail at that time of day. The oil I took was Citronella and I am excited to tell you that it worked perfectly as a natural repellent. I applied it topically to the back of my neck, my wrists, over the rim of my baseball cap, and on the collar and sleeves of my T-shirt. As I walked up the trail I could see and hear a lot of bugs hovering around, but as they got close to me I could see that they stayed at a distance. The scent of this oil is pretty strong so for a bug it must be intense. This is a great thing for people to know because the oil has a pretty low cost, plus it’s another option to use besides our super popular TerraShield repellent blend. ~ I’ve written about TerraShield many times and I will always recommend this blend as a repellent because it also helps to ward off fleas and ticks on dogs, horses, and many other animals. This blend is one of doTERRA’s oldest and most well known oils and the newer spray bottle it comes in makes the application of it so simple. Anyway, back to Citronella… this new oil has other uses as well, some of which I touched on a few blogs ago, but one of my readers wrote in and told me she started adding a drop of it in her shampoo to help add a natural shine to her hair. This sounds pretty interesting and I bet a lot of people will be interested in this application for their own personal use.
Have a great day! Jana
